On 5th April 2026, the SSRC Literary Club successfully organized an immersive Speech Workshop at the Seminar Hall of Sunway College Kathmandu. With the objective of transforming students into confident communicators, the event provided a structured and supportive environment for 30 participants to refine their public speaking skills and overcome stage anxiety.
Bridging the Gap Between Hesitation and Confidence
Public speaking is a cornerstone of professional success, yet it remains one of the most significant challenges for many students. Facilitated by mentor Ms. Kripa Khanal, the two-hour workshop was meticulously designed to equip attendees with practical, actionable techniques to enhance their delivery. The session moved beyond theory, emphasizing the power of non-verbal communication, such as body movement, posture, and the strategic use of hand gestures to command an audience’s attention.
One of the highlights of the workshop was the introduction of the “3-2-1” technique—a method for structuring thoughts by focusing on three key ideas, supported by two points, and summarized with one strong takeaway. This framework proved invaluable for participants, helping them organize complex thoughts into impactful, easy-to-follow narratives. Ms. Khanal further shared personal anecdotes from her own professional journey, illustrating that confidence in speaking is not innate but a skill nurtured through consistent practice and exposure.
Interactive Learning and Engagement
The SSRC Literary Club ensured the workshop was highly engaging by incorporating interactive activities that fostered creativity and spontaneity. During one exercise, participants practiced collaborative storytelling, where each student had to continue a narrative based on the previous speaker’s final sentence. Another activity challenged students’ active listening and memory skills through the “Traveller” story exercise, where each participant had to recap the entire story so far before adding a new segment. These activities not only built storytelling proficiency but also provided a platform for peers to offer constructive feedback on delivery and clarity.
A Success for the SSRC Community
The event concluded with a heartwarming presentation of a token of appreciation to Ms. Kripa Khanal by Khushal Regmi Sir, followed by a commemorative group photo session. By providing a safe space for students to experiment with their voices, the SSRC Literary Club successfully achieved the workshop’s goal of building confidence and enhancing communication abilities. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to creating well-rounded leaders who are as articulate as they are innovative.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all the volunteers and participants who contributed to the success of this event. As the SSRC Literary Club continues to host such impactful gatherings, we invite all interested students to stay tuned for future workshops that aim to elevate their professional and personal growth.
